Exciton Science is going to be busy in the outreach space again in 2021. Once more, we have secured a significant grant from the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources for National Science Week. This grant will go wards the delivery of workshops for student and adult audiences around solar technologies and into delivering an exhibit-type display for audience members to observe Excitonic technologies.
In 2021 we will also be running the Solar Cell Challenge again as a result of such positive feedback from the participating 2020 teachers. To extend the impact of this initiative, in 2021 we plan to get our researchers in the physical or virtual classroom to provide an introductory lesson to students about Solar Cell technology before they depart on their experimental journey.
Also on the agenda, a new and exciting initiative that has already kicked off in 2020 is the Exciton Science Light Ideas Design Competition. This competition for University students and/or recent graduates in the fields of design and architecture is challenging individuals or teams to reimagine the urban landscape by proposing designs for how Luminescent Solar Concentrators could be used. This competition has so far received a high level of interest from initial promotion and our international jury members are excited to see what our local students come up with.
We have more up our sleeves for 2021, but you will just have to wait and see!
